MLB Replacement

To remove the MLB, shut down the system, remove power, remove the system cover, refer to this figure, and perform the following procedure:

NOTE: Configuration information stored in the flashROM and TOY on the MLB will be lost when the MLB is replaced. If possible, record the information on paper while displaying it with the firmware.
  1. Remove all cables from the rear connectors of the MLB.
  2. Remove all PCI/ISA options.
  3. Remove the CPU Daughter Card.
  4. Remove the Power Suppy and Internal Mass Storage Bay for easier access to the MLB cable connectors.
  5. Remove the Lower Fan.
  6. Disconnect all cables from the internal connectors of the MLB.
  7. Remove the five retainer screws (1-5) from the MLB.
  8. Grasp the MLB at the top corners and carefully lift it straight up out of the enclosure.
  9. Carefully insert the new MLB into the enclosure, and reverse all the steps above to complete the replacement.
  10. Power up the system, and, using the firmware, enter the information you recorded earlier.
